About ToScale

ToScale exists for one question: will this piece of furniture fit in this room? You upload a floor plan or type a room's dimensions, set the scale once, and place furniture at its real size to see what fits and how much space is left to walk. It runs in the browser with no account, and there is an Android app.

Who makes it

ToScale is built and maintained by WonJoong, an independent developer — the same name that appears on the Android app's Play Store listing. There is no company behind it and no sales team. Questions, corrections and complaints go to isaac.lee.dev@gmail.com and are read by the person who wrote the code.

ToScale is not affiliated with any similarly named company in cryptocurrency, finance or staffing.

How the numbers are produced

Furniture presets carry real dimensions in centimetres and in feet and inches, and you can type any size you have measured. Nothing is drawn smaller to flatter a room.

The pages that answer whether a given bed fits a given room are not written by hand. Every figure on them — the gap on each side, the walkway at the foot, the verdict — is computed from the stated room and bed dimensions, and the site's build refuses to publish a page whose numbers cannot be traced back to that geometry. The planner link on each of those pages opens the same room with the same bed already in it, so the figures can be checked by dragging.

The sizes tables in the guides use the ranges furniture is commonly sold in. Where a market has its own standards — rooms counted in tatami mats in Japan, 138 × 188 cm double beds in Brazil, 200 cm mattresses in Germany, 190 cm ones in France and Spain — the guide for that language uses those. That is why the guides are written for each market rather than translated from English, and why the same guide can give different numbers in different languages.

What it does not do

There is no 3D rendering, no materials or decor, no catalogue of branded products, and no cloud full of projects. ToScale measures; it does not design. If you want to see what a finished room will look like, a design tool is the better choice, and the guides say so wherever the comparison comes up.

Your floor plan and your data

Your plan is processed in your browser to draw the layout. The privacy policy, linked in the footer of every page, states exactly what is kept, for how long, which analytics run, and how to ask for deletion. It is short and specific rather than boilerplate, and it is the document to trust over any summary, including this one.

Corrections

If a size on a page is wrong for your country, or a standard has changed, say so. The email above reaches the person who can fix it, and the visible date under a page's title changes when it has been.
